  • Chiefs Will Be 9-7

    QB: Cassel
    RB: Jones, Charles, McClester
WR: Bowe, Chambers (best group I can remember in my lifetime)
DLine: Jackson (2nd Year top 3 pick), Dorsey (same as johnson, add a year)
LB: Vrabel (great leader, player coach)
    DB: Berry

Our D will be thin, and our O-Line needs work, but I expect us to suprise with an 9-7 showing. I am probably just Chiefs-drunk which happens every year at this time...we will see.

We should be better than last year, but if our O-line doesn't pick it up it could still be a very long year. It doesn't hurt that our division is about as weak as it has been in the last 20 years though. We have some excellent playmakers at RB, but if they don't get some help up front it won't matter. If we can go 8-8, I think I will be happy (maybe 7-9). We still have some major holes that need filled before we can think about making a run at the playoffs.

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks we wont suck. I live in Cali and from a distance they are getting better. Usually the locals know better, so that makes me optimistic.

        Re: Chiefs Will Be 9-7

        I predicted 7-9 before preseason.

After that abortion of a showing by our defensive front 7, I'm even more wary.

But I think they will improve (we still are breaking in new coordinators). As long as we can have some semblance of a running game, I think the Chiefs can approach .500. We are helped by playing in a crap division.

yeah, I can see 7-8 wins as totally do-able.

I guess it's going to be a couple more years until we know whether we can get off of the patented Carl Peterson treadmill or not, though.

This thread prompted me to check the box score...Kerry had a nice first game 2 for 27 yards

I just don't see more than 6-7 wins max for the Chiefs.

San Fran at home? I really do think 7-9 is a good prediction, and I would actually be happy with that this year. Fill a few more holes for the next year, and you could start looking at 9-10 wins and possibly making the playoffs. I actually can see progress.

our NT and ILB are going to kill us this year. DE's got pressure and containedt he run to the inside and our DB's all looked good in pass coverage.

On offense we ran very well. McCluster had a few problems catching, but the guy has ridiculous acceleration. Oline didn't allow the passing game to get going. Arenas is a stud and will help field positioning out a ton.

They also aren't gonna show many "new" schemes in the preseason. I think we get anywhere from 6-8 wins. 9-7 will win the AFC West.

We need NT, ILB, RT, and probably another OG. NT and ILB are the biggest needs. Need some run D.

I can't believe Dorsey and Derrick Johnson haven't been better, it has been very disappointing. They were pretty much can't miss draft picks, but have turned out average at best.

Cassel just doesn't impress me very much and until we can have a true franchise QB I think they are going to struggle. Cassel was pretty good the year in NE when he had the Patriots talent around him. I don't see this team fielding that type of talent for several more years.

I think McCluster is the best pick in the entire draft. So much value. He is an immediate impact player, and could be like a Percy Harvin for us this year.

I am not on crack, and I think it is 100% feasible that the Chiefs win their first 3 games. 3-0 sure would feel weird.

Also, say what you will about our run defense, but we held 1st string atlanta to 3 first half points. Last year, that would have been alot more.

ummm they are DE's now and created great pass rush last game. Jackson had quite a few good plays where he forced the RB back inside (his job in a 3-4. Our LB's (mainly the ILB's) had terrible angles and were trying to arm tackle. Their big runs were up the middle, not outside, that's not the DE's fault.

What were you expecting from a DE in his first year and a converted DT to DE in his 2nd? Defensive line recruits rarely are immediate successes.
