UPDATE: There has been some question as to whether DeAndre Daniels did indeed get a scholarship offer from Duke, and we have it from an excellent source that not only does he have an offer but that the Blue Devils want him bad.

ESPN Recruiting's Dave Telep wrote yesterday that while other schools like Texas, Kansas and even Kentucky and Oregon have tried their best to woo Daniels, "as time has gone on, it looks like Duke has woven the most intricate series of connections around him."

According to Telep, the Devils will visit him again this week prior to the start of the NCAA tournament.

According to Eric Bossi of, DeAndre Daniels is now looking at not only Duke but also Colorado, Florida, Oregon, San Diego State and Tennessee. These schools join the others -- Kansas, Kentucky and Texas -- that Daniels has been considering for quite some time.

It's interesting to see a name like Colorado on his new list. The Buffaloes could really use an impact newcomer like Daniels next season, with three of their top four scorers being seniors in 2010-11. The fourth? Alec Burks, a sophomore shooting guard who is projected to be a late lottery pick if he forgoes his final two seasons in Boulder.

Even though DeAndre Daniels decommitted from Texas, it still seemed that the class of 2011 big would choose between the Longhorns and Kansas. At one point, Minnesota had been making some inroads into the forward's recruiting race but the latest news involving Daniels revolves around Duke offering a scholarship to the 6-foot-7 forward.

Clint Jackson of Rivals tweets that Daniels wants to go to a school where he can make an impact as soon as he steps on the court. Since of his size, one might assume Duke would have too many bodies in the frontcourt -- along with both Plumlees and Ryan Kelly, the Blue Devils will also welcome Marshall Plumlee, a 6-foot-11 big, to campus. However, Daniels is much more of a perimeter-oriented big -- Daniels has a dependable jump shot and good handles.

It will be interesting to see where Daniels' recruitment goes. As mentioned, Texas and KU seemed to be the most active in his race but a move to a team with more of a open offense might better showcase Daniels' skillset.
