  • This is where REAL discussion of the KSU game happens

So, I figured it would be nice to have a place where all our KSU "friends" can feel safe.

So this KU team, while having SERIOUS issues that need to be addressed has shown a suprising ability to hold running based teams. Our Run Defense has been fairly decent this year, and with KSU being a running team what does this say to our chances? I realise KSU has one of the best RB's in the nation this year, but can we slow him down enough?

Our Passing Defense is pitiful, but so is their QB, so we have a good shot.

It will also be interesting to have Coach Long on our side. Think he has been able to give Turner any insight into the psyche that is Old Ballz? Thoughts?

Old Balls owned Long in the Big 12 Championship. I wouldn't trust Chuck Long, he's the Brick Tamland of the coaching staff.

However Long was the OC in Oklahoma for some DAMN good seasons, including the Rose Bowl and a damn good offense in 2003. I imagine he has "better" info on Snyder's system than Gill does.

Ok, now really.... I actually DO WANT an answer to this. How is KSU's defensive line? The only Stater game I watched was NB, and they looked like fools (but that was playing NE). Can our abysmal OL hold them out long enough for Webb to make plays? Can we make enough holes for Sims to run away with it?

KSU FAN... drink your purple koolaid and tell me about your D!

DL is serviceable at times. Harold is very good. LB's are KU bad, if not worse. Secondary is occasionally decent at defending short routes, but safety Tysyn Hartman has been known to take terrible angles this year and get beat deep...he might be a gear short after undergoing ACL surgery. The secondary also isn't good at adjusting to passes thrown under an "open umbrella" coverage. Nobody on this team apparently knows how to:

              1. Take good angles to a ballcarrier (see: ISU, UCF, NU)
              2. Drive a man back at the line of scrimmage...no matter where he gets hit, he'll fall forward for 2-3 extra yards. (see: every game KSU has played this year)
              3. Tackle anywhere besides the ankles.

Regarding your questions: For Webb, probably not, unless he can throw deep consistently. Our d-line can be okay at pass rush...at times. Okay will probably be good enough against your o-line. Sims is much more of a worry for us. We haven't shown that we can stop the run at all this season...I think he will be the reason KU wins or loses tonight.

from a spectator standpoint, this could be a terrible, terrible game.

I'm just going to go ahead and fix it for you. I absolutely hate watching this year's KSU team, but I still do anyway...shrug.
