has officially become the hoops board. The neurotic and excitable hysteria that defines the hoops board insanity has found its way to the gridiron board. That place is becoming a dump.

I'm not sure which is worse, the overreactions or the over the top homerism.

To what 'over-the-top' homerism do you refer? Before the season there was some high optimism, some people guessing 8 wins. But not since the NDSU game. I don't think I've seen anyone suggest ANY bowl game, let alone a BCS one.
So, I would say the negativity is MUCH worse than the over the top homerism, since there is none.

I feel that Gill will have no problem getting our boys ready for some rivalry games. KSU and MU could easily be wins. CU is terrible (I don't care about Georgia) and ISU has been bad forever. KU always wins one game they shouldn't so getting to 6 wins is STILL POSSIBLE PEOPLE! It is simple math!!!!

The most glaring over the top homerism is that this team is losing because of a lack of talent (which most everyone expected) and that the lack of fundamentals, discipline, and player development has nothing to do with Gill.
5 games in I haven't seen anything that convinces me Gill is prepared to lead a BCS conference team. Maybe we'll get lucky down the stretch, and in two or three years we will win our games against FCS schools. I don't have faith in Gill, but that's only because he hasn't done anything meriting faith. Hopefully in the next few games he'll give some indication that he can succeed on the field.

Re: TOS gridiron board
Agreed with dewars
there is no doubt there are coaching issues.....but anyone that thought we were going to see a seamless transition with a new staff right into a bowl game are even worse than the worst homers.
we were 5-7 last year with our best team ever....seven game losing streak...what makes you think we should be better than 3 or 4 wins this year, if that?
Gill is recruiting a core, he knows where we're weakest, the lines, and he's attacking that problem....it doesn't make me a homer to tell you to give Gill more than 5 games

I'll hold judgment until a few games in next year.

Agreed.
If people were basing their expectation for the rest of the season on our performance against GA Tech and NMST, they have a long road ahead of them. GA Tech was not a good passing or tackling team, and we got a couple of good breaks against them as well....we also surprised them a little with our passing attack. NMST was just awful, and not a good measuring stick for us.
By the time we got to Big XII play, most of our conference foes have seen enough film on us to know what we are doing. And our O-line isn't protecting well enough to win very many conference games.
This team looks like '04--some good young talent, but not a complete team. I think we may beat KSU and split one of the south schools at Memorial, but it's looking more and more like o-fer the rest of the way.

You know I would be ok (not happy) with going O-fer the rest of the way as long as we were competitive. Losing 21-17 would be okay with me. Losing 50-7 is not.
