  • KU Football and Talent don't mix

I took a look at the ESPN site for a listing of current NFL players by school affiliation.

    Texas..42
    Okla....29
    Neb.....26
    aTm....16
    KSU, OSU, Col..15
    TT.......12
    Bay......11
    MU.......8
    KU......7
    ISU......6

6 of the 7 KU players were on the Orange Bowl team. I would be surprised if any of the current players find their way onto an NFL roster. Unless the talent level is raised we just can't compete. Hopefully Gill can start pulling in better players.

It'd be interesting to see how many of those were John Blake recruits. He recruited most of that OU title team and was at Nebraska for a while under Callahan. His most recent job was 'runner' at UNC.

Actually it is one of the most depressing. The fact that Briscoe is having trouble finding a spot on a roster just goes to show that making the NFL is pretty tough, and there isn't anyone on this team making it.

You know people say that the South has an outrageous recruiting advantage based solely on location. This chart punches holes in that. Nebraska hasn't been good for years yet they pull triple the NFL level talent. KSU doubles our level. Gill will win at KU if he can recruit real talent. It's not about X's & O's so much as his recruiting that will keep him employed.
