  • New Player Cell Phone Policy

    http://www.kansascity.com/2010/09/21...ms-costly.html

Now players can't use their cell phones the 24 hours before a game.

Not really sure what to think here. Don't have a problem with this particular policy, but all these"off the field" changes are getting a little ridiculous. And while it's never explicitly stated, J. Brady's insinuation that this will solve the team's communication policies is completely asinine.

I think this policy has been in effect the whole season. Gridiron Week 1 shows them putting their phones in a bag. I could care less that they take their phones from them. I thought this addition to the story was pretty stupid though.

      Ah that makes more sense.

Doesn't change the fact that J. Brady is a douchebag.

can they do this legally? I don't really care that they're doing it, but I can see some player getting pissed and making a big stink about it. Can also see some out of state parents getting upset that they can't talk to their kids.

Some players like to complain about stuff, like getting poked in the chest. :'(

Wow this is a little extreme. I'd just give them my old phone cause this goes far beyond what you should be allowed to do as a coach.

[/quote]I am pretty sure that would be lying and that likely would put you in Turner Gill's doghouse.

Its interesting to hear a player's opinion. I didn't figure it would matter to the players. What is your opinion on this? Would it have changed which school you would have gone to if you found out the coaching staff at the school you were considering did it?

I read that the previous staff was apparently doing this as well for a few years, and that Patterson at TCU is doing it. I figured it was not that uncommon.

Rojas said there was a similar rule when he was at Bowling Green. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say Gill is not a trailblazer regarding this rule. Just a theory.

Gill's rhetoric his entire tenure at KU has been developing young men, etc. His actions have been in a different directions treating these 'young men' has tweens. Why waste the energy and time?

                        1. No names on jerseys
                        2. Taking away cell phones
                        3. No girls passed 10 on any night
                        4. No sugar cereal
                        5. Checking the tooth brush to see if it's been used
                        6. 1 can of coke per day
