  • So what is the deal with the 2003-2004 team HoF induction?

Just reading the LJWorld and saw the story.

Although I enjoyed the season, they weren't conference champs, they did alright in the NCAA tournament, but aside from it being Self's first KU team, they aren't of prominent note in the history of Kansas Basketball. Some of my favorite Jayhawks all time were on the team, Aaron Miles, Wayne Simien, and Keith Langford. I just don't know why it is being inducted into the Kansas Hall of Fame.

    Thoughts?

I have no idea, I've been wondering the same thing. I can see each of those 3 somehow getting in the Hall as individuals, but as far as Kansas Basketball goes, that team was average at best. It is a strange deal IMO.

Wayne is already getting inducted. I don't know if Aaron deserves it. He's the all time assist guy, and one of my favorite point guards for KU, and has better numbers across the board than Jacque, but is lacking the the national awards area. Keith is just awesome. I figure he'll make it to the HoF, and I wouldn't be surprised if Bill retires his jersey under the Kirk doctrine.

But the team was pretty average. They would be some schools all time greatest team, but for KU, it was just average, and kind of forgettable. The 2004-2005 team is remembered for the Bucknell job and finishing the season 3-6 in their last 9.

The 2004 team isn't remembered at all. They beat UIC, Pacific, clowned UAB and Mike Anderson, and then lost to Ga Tech in OT. I guess we could remember them for getting their shit stomped at Nevada by the mentally insane Kirk Snyder and little guy from Weskan, Kansas. (on a side note, I went to Colorado for Labor Day weekend and drove through Weskan, I halfway expected to see a road sign dedicated to him.) We could also remember them for the faceplant against Richmond, and then the amazing closeout of the Hearnes Center.

I'd imagine some of it has to do with the fact that these guys were big contributors for the 01-02 team and in particular, the 02-03 team, which were two of the most beloved KU teams I can remember.

Not to be a dick or anything, but this reasoning makes no sense because those teams were already inducted. So they got their pat on the back already.

I don't get it either. It's an average KU team. It's like K-State putting a Tom Berenger team into their HOF.

I think they already inducted Jeremiah Massey.
