  • Penn player suicide raises questions about brain trauma

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5569329

Interesting read. Basic point of the article is that it's starting to look like 1000 small hits on a football player may cause just as much damage as a few big hits. Hard to imagine what more they could do to make the game safer short of a breakthrough in materials for helmets.

This is a big issue with the NFL Player's Association too. They've had a few retirees go suicidal due to similar issues.

It makes this whole 'Case Keenum is day to day with a mild concussion' stuff look so much worse.

This guy's mom provided some breakthrough padding materials!
