The structure of the deal is going to be such that his annual salary will never be below a certain percentage of the cap, but estimates are pegging it around $400-$425M for the life of the contract.

Obviously, he deserves to be the highest paid player in the league, so that's good. Excited to have a (likely) decade of Mahomes (of course, anything could happen). Great news.

This seems almost miraculously good for the Chiefs. $40M/yr is barely even the market value for him today and we've got him at a little less than that for 12 years.

Then again, I personally think NFL revenues will peak before this contract is over, so the growth in cap might not be quite as extreme as we're used to.
