Plumber once told me that if you would eat it it goes down the disposal. If you wouldn't/couldn't eat it throw it away.

They grid of stink in your disposal. We put one in about every two weeks.

Honestly, I do it, but I still do the actual packs of stuff you buy at Lowes/home depot and use those once every month or two

I do it all the time, too. I've never had any plumbing issues b/c of it and my kitchen always smells fruity fresh.

I heard that ice down the disposal is a good way to clean it as well... or maybe it was supposed to sharpen things (what? I'm not that drunk.)

I'm gonna whip up a batch of lemon juice ice cubes. I like the potential.

Here is a question for some of you -

Why do you put so much shit down the disposal drain?

For example: I had an old roommate who would put anything and everything down it. Expired old deli meat - down the disposal. Old pasta, down the disposal. Leftovers in the fridge to long, down the disposal. Why?

I understand some stuff, rinsing off dishes, cleaning vegetables, etc. But just putting every random thing ever down the disposal when it could just as easily be thrown in the trash just seems to ask for problems to me.

Well, lemon/lime peels supposedly freshen the smell...and it's true

I wouldn't put any of the stuff that you just mentioned into the disposal
