  • Wildfire near Boulder

    http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=151706

It's not very big yet, but it's almost completely uncontained, and moving towards Boulder. There's no definite count on how many houses have burned, and at least one fire truck got caught in the fire.

They don't know what started it, but I'm pretty sure it was started by Mike Bohn so CU could collect on the insurance money to pay for their jump to the Pac-10.

Learned this morning that one family friend has lost their house (they were out of the country when they got the phone call from their son that their house was about to become a pile of charred cinders . . . far too late to do anything about it) and a handful more have had to evacuate. Hope they get this thing under control soon.

The comments on that story are killing me......did you all know the fire was started as a result of the city of Boulder wanting to ticket homeless people when they sleep in the park?

In all seriousness, one of my sorority sisters lives near the area that is being evacuated and could get the order soon. She has three little kids....I can't imagine having to pack up and just leave your house not knowing if it will be there when you get back.

            Here's a current map:

I now know of three old friend's houses I used to play in that are no longer and at least two more that are still in danger. This sucks.

Thanks for the map. I was just up in that area 7 weeks ago. Hopefully it dies out soon.

I'm assuming it's the Boulder side that is contained. At only 30% though, it only takes one bad gust of wind to send this thing out of control. Fires out that way are so unpredictable.
