    • So this could go in the ostensibly sort of funny thread, but I place it here. This is serious music. Conlon Nancarrow, serious composer, hit upon the genius notion that with a piano roll for a player piano, you could dang well make as many holes as you like, so why just make a new role by playing it with two measly hands with ten measly fingers? Make your own holds in bunches with a pencil or something, and you can play 88 notes at once, you can play 'em hundreds of times faster, far apart notes all over at once, and zip up and down the keyboard in a split second. You could make smoke come out of the player piano. So he did all that. This great piece stars with a slow set of notes bouncing around while a fast set zips all over, and the former gets faster and the latter gets slower, and they meet in the middle in the middle (which is a fine place for the middle to meet).

So what visuals can we have with this?

      Um.

Let's throw bricks in a spinning washer.

      • Remembering John Bonham, who died on 9/25/80. He should have stopped after 20 shots of vodka...

                        • I find this fascinating. No instruments were used in the making of this song.
