  • Where to start?

The lady was feeling nice and brought me these last night for the weekend....where should I start this evening?

Never had any of them so I don't really know the quality

    Re: Where to start?

    Four good ones.

The Aventinus is a weird beer, err, bier. It's a doppelbock derived from the weissebier. Strong and complex. Don't have it first.

The other three are a toss-up. Of those I prefer the Schneider, but it's damn hard to argue against two of Bavaria's other top breweries, Weihenstephaner and Ayinger. All are the pinnacle of the weissbier style and far better than any of their American or Belgian peers.

The Weihenstephan and Ayinger are dunkel weizen, my favorite wheat beer style. Pick one, then have the Schneider kristal, then the other dunkel. Save the bock for the last.

Thanks for the info...the GF happens to have German in her blood so she has an appreciation for good Bier as well as family over there....can't wait to visit

The Aventinus is 8.2% alcohol so it's gonna be a kick in the pants

They're all very good. Aventinus is one of my favorite beers overall since I love both hefeweissbiers and doppelbocks, and Weihenstephaner is probably my favorite hefeweizen.

Whatever you do, make sure to drink the Scheisse Weidner while sitting on the toilet.

All wheat beers do that to some extent. Schneider is as guilty as any. You learn to take it, or, in my case, I reserve wheat beers to certain occasions when I'm okay with the consequences in a few hours.

Belgian beers, esp. witbieres, really make my pipes blow.

Liked them all...would have to say in order though 3,2,1,4

all great beers....it was like heaven after drinking the typical Oklahoma swill for the last year and a half...she told me the store where she gets them so now I can do some shopping of my own
