      WTF?

Along the subject, I've had to place several friends on ignore for the dumb things they have continuously said on FB.

        Re: Stupid Facebook Friends

My biggest annoyance lately are the friends who give multiple updates a day as to all they have done....."Just got done running 10 miles, canning 18 jars of peaches, doing 5 loads of laundry, playing a game with the kids, grocery shopping, dinner is in the crockpot and it's only noon!"

Fuck you all. My update today would read: Slept until 8am when the kids dragged me out of bed by my hair, sat around on the computer all morning, threw some breakfast on the table at about 10am when I realized the kids' hadn't made it themselves, let them play XBOX for 2 hours with their friends over far exceeding the limit set by the AAP for proper mental development so that I could talk to friend on phone and chat online on wtw, ordered pizza for lunch, sat in the backyard with girlfriends on our lazy asses while the kids played, finally mustered up enough energy to make some spaghetti for dinner and clean the kitchen. It's after 8pm and I think I MIGHT get in the shower now.

(don't tell gReed any of this. In my defense, this was a bad day)

              Re: Stupid Facebook Friends

My father in law (whom I get along with very well and is a genuinely good person [despite what you are about to read]) unleashed this gem the other day:

"Somewhere, there's folk that believe by putting a Muslim shrine at Ground Zero we'd show our religious tolerance. I'm thinkin' those same assholes are people that oppose the Pledge of Allegiance in schools and any reference to God in our government. So what do we want, Muslim shrines, or signs telling the world that it was a bunch of rag headed, Koran readin', camel ridin' cocksuckers that did it in the first place?"

Now, my wife and her sister, not exactly in lock-step with dear ol' dad tried to talk him down a little bit and he went alpha dog on them. I've stayed out of it completely.

No, he doesn't post on Phog.

By the way BBS&M/S&MDMTD, I think you are my wife's heroine. I constantly have to talk her off the ledge for feeling like she never accomplishes anything during the day with the 4 and 2 y/o running around. "Look what my friends say they did today on Facebook".

                /Goddamn facepalm.

                  Re: Stupid Facebook Friends

I'm pretty innocuous on FB. It is interesting for a peek into lives of long-lost friends but it does get a bit tiresome hearing about the details.

I've thought about suggesting an alter-ego day on FB where I post multiple times with the insipid details of my life.

Do you think they'd get the message?

A friend of mine, from wayback, posts the worst thoughts, messages, etc. They're hard to describe and rarely make sense. I don't know if I want to be his friend anymore, real or Facebook. Had a brief convo with pitinoslibido about it yesterday in fact, for all involved are friends from way back. I'm convinced he tries to think of things that may be witty, controversial, or lowest common denominator mass appealing in order to procure thumbs up.

vorsk and I have had conversations about FB and how much crap is out there now. I like Twitter because it's quick and easy. I don't care if you play farmville or have 10,000 jewels.

The worst are people in their 40s-60s that join some of the dumbest groups and have some of the weirdest conversations on FB.

So what you are saying is your friend has low self esteem and is a unabashed attention whore?

                            Re: Stupid Facebook Friends

I have some of the dumbest and most illiterate people on my FB from high school. One of them was so hyper-conservative that she de-friended me around the 2008 election, probably when I started liking more progressive-type stuff.

I've had to hide the posts of another one, who is actually pretty hot-looking, because all of hers were incomprehensible four-worders like "In a Tight Spot", or "Here We Go Again..".

I have another guy I went to HS with that posts in all caps with no punctuation and barely any spelling.

Self esteem is sky high, he has put out two rap mixtapes.
I may gather a grip of his posts and post em here after work.
