Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam. I love the guitar work and the song in general, but I have no fucking clue what Eddie Vedder is singing. I think he says "porch" a few times.

If only they had websites with song lyrics....... :)

fwiw, I love that song, too. Was anybody here at Rita's on the Riverwalk after we won the title? There was an awesome acoustic guitarist and he did a kick-ass version of that song. It's an odd song to make me think of our title night, but whenever I hear it now that's all I think of. The whole bar was singing along....and probably totally butchering the lyrics in the process.

Oh, I've definitely looked up the lyrics, but I still mess them up like crazy when I sing (like those bar patrons). I play a pretty schweet version of that song on mah geetah. I'll have to get drunk and post it on here sometime for shits n' giggles.

I was there, but don't remember this song or anyone playing it. My friend and I were sitting across from Rita's smoking stoogies and drinking beer. I talked to the Memphis mascott, sans his head piece (maybe he could get in touch with the guy from KSU to complete the costume?) Then we went to the Leapin' Lizard bar on the street level. It has a West feel to it. I got shitfaced hammered. We played Journey's Don't Stop Believing on the juke box. That which pissed the bar tender off. Then met the guys who painted the original Beware of the Phog banner who were at the bar. Right before we closed out the bar, we gave the staff a rousing rendition of the Rock Chalk chant. Epic night. Later we were offered real "San Antonio pussy" in the back of a Ford Explorer from a street pimp while walking to our car. We politely declined and then went to Whataburger.

I owe a lot to whoever first posted that link. My husband and I sat and waded thru the other songs linked to that youtube for a good hour or two. "Make me fries" was still the best but "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is also ftw, especially for the accompanying cartoon drawings. "She soiled the wall"....

If anyone has ever heard of the band Aesop Rock most of their lyrics i don't get. Very abstract lyrics especially:

"life is not a bitch. Life is a beeotch who keeps the villagers circiling the marketplace searching for the g spot"

And people say their wedding days and children being born are the best days of their lives. That night will always be top 5.

"Ode to Joy" by Schiller and Beethoven. I should probably learn the German.

                          "La Marseillaise"

Half the songs by Ramones are unintelligible, by design I suspect.
