Another friend from high school, another child.

Is it always weird when your friends/classmates from high school have children? Generally they are all unwed, not that I care, but it is still strange. I would be such a shitty parent, single or otherwise. I'm admittedly immature and know I would be awful, but I can't help but think my friends/classmates would act similar to me.

Does it change? Should I get a vasectomy?

No. Most of the people I went to HS with didn't leave high school without a child. My best friend all through elementary school has a child who is now a Senior in high school. I'm 28.

Two thoughts....

1. I am only 27 and have two kids. Granted both were a surprise, but I was married for both of them. I graduated HS in 2001 and I would say about half of my class is married and either has kids, or is currently pregnant. As a side note, I hate everyone I graduated with.

2. If you get a vasectomy... that would be a tragedy! I think of it this way, your smart enough to know you shouldn't have one yet. Meaning society needs your genes to continue. If all the smart people get vasectomies then it's the WT Morans that will be procreating. Scary thought!

I referenced this in an earlier thread...but "the one that got away" is married two kids with another on the way....I'm glad she got away...my GF and I use condoms and BC

I don't ever want kids because one of me is enough. I have a very Malthusian outlook on population growth.

I think half of the girls from my high school (I went to HS in a small town, probably about 200-300 kids in the whole HS) had kids early. It's a miracle I didn't get laid before graduation.

I've had discussions on why stagnant population growth percentage isn't a bad thing and most look at me like I'm crazy. It seems following the one or two generations that would suffer from a change in systems, things would go on as normal. We're not an agrarian society that needs 17 kids to raise the farm.

I'm not against changing my mind, and I would like to understand why we need our population growth percentage to continue to increase with limited land, resources, jobs, etc. If anyone has an answer, or place to direct me, I would appreciate it.

Give me a good reason why population growth needs to increase? The scariest thing to me about our world is overpopulation. I think it is the most dangerous thing on our planet that is rarely, if ever, talked about. Stupid WT people that have 18 kids are the most selfish people. What if everyone on the planet had 10+ kids? Our planet would be destroyed in about 1 to 2 generations. Plus, it will be a very difficult thing to stop, once it has gone too far.

Sorry for my sky is falling tin foil hat rant, but this is one topic that I think about more often than most people, and it really scares me.
