  • Coming soon: WTW Android App

still got several bugs, but, I'm getting them worked out (slowly)

to support the app probably need to get a few things changed here on the board though

Re: Coming soon: WTW Android App

I'd rather shit glass than make an iPhone app

      sorry....also, I don't know how

I've made this with Android's App creating software....I'm modeling it off of an app for some forums I'm a member of, only problem is, not sure if this forum has the backend to make it work

        :mexicanActually, I'm just kidding

lol, yes, there will hopefully be an iPhone version, but I really dont know at this point

it's based off the tapatalk plugin, so we'll need the forum admin to get that plugin installed

I might say, it will be using tapatalk's plugin with an unlicensed app :D

I wouldn't mind actually getting a rebranding license and using the official software, but....it's kinda pricy...it would be 1800 bucks or so to get an iPhone and an android client

first things first...what do you have pulling background data?

Twitter updates? Facebook updates? Myspace updates? etc

anything polling for updates often is going to really suck battery...turn it off and manually refresh for updates.

Post me a list of every app installed on your phone

Re: Coming soon: WTW Android App

can you screen shot on this thing?

I've only installed twitter, facebook, and farm frenzy (don't knock it till you try it...haha) I'm pretty sure....facebook is now set to never refresh, and twitter looks like it could only go to four hours at the longest

The only other pulls are gmail and my work email I think

I'm at 82% right now...unplugged it at full battery 3 hours ago

If you can screen shot I can send you battery usage....which is mainly phone calls and display

edit: call time since unplug is 4 minutes and accounts for 30% of usage

Re: Coming soon: WTW Android App

I had a Beautiful Widgets clock and weather widget pull on my phone yesterday and use up more 50% of my battery. Sometimes an app can try to pull data and keep going. I think it continually tried to use GPS to set my location all afternoon. Look for any app that uses GPS or network data that may be attempting to pull data that isn't available. Sometimes they just keep going using up your resources.

Re: Coming soon: WTW Android App

Screen timeout is at 30 seconds as well

oh yeah...I have beautiful live weather as well....and it's accounting for 3%...so I'm not too worried about that one

There are apps to screen shot. My moto droid requires root access to use it though. I use drocap2.

What is the top battery use item on your screen?

you can turn notifications off totally on twitter, that stops it.

Also, Jhawk2001 mentioned beautiful widgets....I can't tell you how much battery this bastard pulls down in idle sometimes.

Remove it and it alone and you'll get better battery life...check how often it's refreshing the weather

Always disable wifi and gps when not in use, and you can even disable 3g by selector switch with a few certain aps (edge uses considerably less power)

if I want, I can easily get 2 days of use out of a full charge

normally, I make it all day every day without problem and just charge it overnight (always charge overnight)
