  • Switched to T-Mobile

Finally ditched Verizon....I've had some major issues with data speeds at home, I live pretty close to the walmart home office, and pull off the same tower...during the weekdays (7-6ish) it's absolutely atrocious...my 3G was pulling down maybe 150kbps tops most the time...even at night I was only pulling in about 1mbps

bought the Vibrant, heard horror stories about T-Mo's coverage...but it works great for me...guess the tower isn't nearly as overloaded....about 2mpbs during the day, gotten up to almost 4.7 mbps at night. HSPA coverage is great up here as long as you don't get out in the boonies.

Only thing....this fucking Vibrant has Samsung's touchwiz and the shit looks like an iPhone....

I don't mind it, but I can't wait for some stock Android and Cyanogenmod 6 release for the GalaxyS series phones

I have T-Mobile, trying to decide between the Vibrant and G2 right now.

I really wish they had the iphone.

G2's going to be HSPA+ compatible...if you're in an area with HSPA+ (I am) you might want to wait

Honestly, I picked up the Vibrant for 99 bucks from T-Mobile direct the other day on sale (I hate buying from Amazon, etc, they impose their own ETF's).

I'll pay the 200 (- proration) ETF when there's a special on the G2 once it's been out a month or two

Vibrant should still fetch 300 unlocked by then on ebay, and will cover the ETF and part of the G2

Funny, I'm on the brink of ditching T-Mobile.

I need a decent phone, however. One that'll work in Deutschland and Italia. May have to stick with T-Mob for another term, even though my contract is up in two weeks.

I meant to email you about that

if you go Verizon or Sprint your options are extremely limited as far as world phones

Personally, the Vibrant's a great phone

I'd grab one, you can pick one up pretty cheap now days

Thanks for the tip, Evolve. I'll check out the Vibrant. $99? I could go for that.

Amazon had a one day sale of the Vibrant for $.01 last week. Only for new customers though.

Stay away from that unless you plan on being with them a while

If you buy from Amazon for that 1 penny, you cannot make a single change to your plan for 6 months

if you change your rate plan or disconnect...you get a 250 dollar ETF on top of anything T-Mobile would charge.

                F-that

I like changing phones every 4-6 months, I don't want to be tied down

I just browsed T-Mobile's website and didn't see the Vibrant for $99. They had it for $199 with a 2-year contract.

Looks like just an AMOLED screen. I really like the Vibrant's screen. Is there anyway the G2 comes with Android 3.0?

Give me a SAMOLED screen, Android 3.0 and HSPA+ and I'll be happy.

the G2 won't come with 3.0 and it won't have a SAMOLED screen (most likely not even AMOLED).

Amoled's causing massive supply delays, and Samsung won't sell their Super Amoled tech to anyone else as they're using them all for their Samsung Galaxy S series phones.

I can tell you this though....The screen's absolutely beautiful....and vibrant

                        the G2 will have HSPA+ though :)

                          blah.

A guy I work with has the Vibrant, why does TMO get suck with "oooohh Avatar preloaded!!11"? Who gives a fuck? I swear their target demographic is 16 year old kids.

I guess I will continue to wait. Samsung scares me with their delayed release of updated Android OS versions. I'm the opposite of you, I'll hold on to mine for 2 years, so I want to make sure I can get the best one possible.

What do you think of this Super LCD screen I keep hearing about?

The Vibrant has by far the best hardware available on T-Mo (or any provider, outside of other Galaxy S phones).

The Hummingbird processor destroys Snapdragon processors of the same speed, and it's just overall a great phone.

It's going to be supported with updates for quite some time as the hardware will definitely support it (and if not, it will be featured in Cyanogenmod releases)

LCD screens are just flat out inferior to the Super AMOLED screens that are on all the Galaxy S series phones....they're also way better than any other AMOLED screen on the market.

There's a reason Samsung's not selling them to anyone else
