Hawk Week

One of the most tiring and fun weeks of my job. Traditions Night is great and gets you in the spirit of KU. I'm ready for football season now.

It's also funny to think about all the mistakes the little freshman are going to make in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully nothing too bad, but the fun stuff. Can't believe it was 13 years ago that I was at the Hawk as a dumbass frosh.

The first three nights of Country Club Week (what the fuck is this Hawk Week shit?) during my freshman year I was three for three in getting a young lady naked in bed with me; I thought I was magic all of a sudden.

Once school started and people stopped drinking themselves senseless each night, my average went way down.

Yeah, when did "Hawk Week" replace Country Club Week? Was this a Hemenway change? In other words, a meaningless semantic change just changes sake? (See: Border "Showdown")

It wasn't just a semantics change. It went from being like Mardi Gras to a fricking church retreat capping the week off with the ever-so-popular Ice Cream Social. Woohoo!!! College Rocks!

I thought hawk week was boring as hell, along with the majority of the other students around us. We showed up hammered to traditions night in memorial. That spurred some girls to come back with us to our dorm room because we had booze. I think I skipped most of the other things to go do actual fun things with other people in my dorm.

The only "Hawk week" thing that we went to was Traditions Night. And we went plastered.

Like someone else said, that first week was/still is the best batting average ever. I think the 4 of us in the room hit about a combined .900 that week. It was amazing.

It's been Hawk Week for 15+ years. If not almost 20 years. Dr. Ambler was the one who made that change before Chancellor Bob got here.

I just drove through campus. Busloads of hot sorority girls pouring onto the sidewalk, and yatds full of even more rushees. All in short skirts/dresses and heels. Did I mention I love this time of year?
