  • Ummmm.....ham?

I need some ideas of what to do with a 15lb. ham.

Ever since the baby was born, I've had this minor obsession (ok, truthfully, it's an addiction that is getting out of control) of making meals and freezing them so I can pop them in the oven on busy nights.

I bought a 15-lb ham yesterday and am going to bake it today. But I need ideas of what to do with the leftovers to make into meals that freeze well.

So far I know I am going to make a red beans and rice gumbo with sausage and ham, as well as a ham and potato and corn chowder.

Anyone have anything else they do with ham (other than eat it straight-up)?

Slice it up for ham sammies. Grind it up for deviled ham.

Crush a case of miller high life and just go ham. No freezing required

I had a very different idea of where this was going. The internet has ruined me.

If only I could put my baby in the freezer and take him out when it was convenient for me.

                          Re: Ummmm.....ham?

Soak a bag of Great Northern beans in water over night.
Rinse and place in a large pot with water and maybe chicken broth or beef bullion or whatever.
Add hambone and chunked up leftover ham.
Season with Garlic salt and some pepper and whatever floats your boat.
Heat and simmer over low heat for a couple hours.
It will get better over time.

Simple enough for a suburban, Oprah watching mom to make.
                          Luv you madly. :shades:
