  • Phones on a date

So I'm on a lunch date with my husband now. Lately it seems like we both hop on our phones (specifically the Internet) after we order while we wait for our food. It's not like we totally tune each out...we usually talk about what we are reading (for example, we just had a conversation about Daniels).

Does anyone else do this? Or is my marriage a failure because we can't focus on each other for an hour?

You carried on an entire text conversation today while on YOUR lunch date. No offense but I don't think I need to be taking dating advice from you on this subject.

I'm ok with internet and talking about what we're reading. Texting, however, pisses me off.

As long as you are not on your phone while getting teh secks, and you are getting teh secks regularly then there is no issue here.

You should be in the kitchen making him a sammich and asking if he wanted another blowie.

If you're sexting each other it's all good.

I would say if you are on a date or with your SO, it's best to keep off the phone unless you are looking up an answer or resource.

The last time I tried that with my husband was when I was at this sex seminar for women (at my church, of all places). The speaker told us to get out our phones and text our husbands with simply "let's try something new tonight". My husband immediately texted me back with, "Sounds good. Do you want me to pick up some Indian food on the way home?" What should have led to sex on the kitchen floor led to just a kitchen that reeked of curry.

After six years, we just tried the bathroom floor. It was pretty hot.

                              Re: Phones on a date

I went on a date with a woman once who, after the Greek Festival at the Greek Orthodox Church, we were having dinner in a romantic little spot when her phone rings. She starts talking and about 10 minutes in I call her from my cell, she answers, now, she is about 24 inches from me, I ask her if she wants to go on a date with me. She seems puzzled, so I say, how about right now!!!!! She laughs, hangs up on me and continues to talk to whomever for about 3 more minutes when I gesture I need to go use the restroom. I went to the greater, get the bill, pay it plus tip, leave and drive home. I have no idea how she got home. She did call me the next day all apologetic, but, no longer was interested.
