Egg Nog -- Yea or nay?

I had this most incredible egg nog cupcake on Sunday afternoon. I have not stopped thinking about it since.

It got me thinking that I should make something similar for my friends/neighbors for my Christmas goodie baskets. I found this recipe for egg nog poundcake with a buttercream nutmeg frosting. But then I started thinking that a lot of people can't stand egg nog. It seems to be a very polarizing holiday goodie....you either love it or hate it.

I have never even had a sip of egg nog in my entire life. Its name and appearance are not very appealing.

I drank a small glass on Sunday while putting up a Christmas tree. It was thick, creamy, and a tad disgusting. But I drink a bit every year.

I never liked it because I've always gotten it straight from the carton. My friend gave me his grandmother's recipe last year and I fucking loved the shit out of that nog.
