  • Japan World Cup Bid: Brought to you by technology that doesn't exist yet

    http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TECH/inn...bid/index.html

This is too good to not post here for everyone to see it. Japan wants to host the World Cup in 2022. Their main selling point? Broadcasting the games LIVE in full-size holograms all over the world (doesn't exist). Oh yeah, and everyone will get a headset so they can talk to the rest of the world in ANY LANGUAGE (also doesn't exist).

No word on if THIS will be the opening ceremony entertainment.

It's worth noting that this idea is being pitched to FIFA, the same organization that refuses to put a single standard definition camera on the goal line. These guys are so technophobic they make Kentucky look like Silicon Valley.

Also notable is Qatar's 2022 bid, which only has one stadium. One city will host the entire event. They will build 7 temporary stadiums, all to FIFA Elite standard, and when its all over they will deconstruct them and give them to third world countries.

I half expected them to say they were going to build a massive dome around the whole area and cool it down so people could actually go outside during the day.

Since when are you the expert on hologram technology? Can you prove it does not exist? In fact I was in Japan last week watching the hover-board championships on a Mitsubishi Hologram T-38DD.

No dome, but they do claim to have a technology that will keep the open air stadia, including the playing field which has no roof cover, at 70 degrees no matter what the outside conditions are outside. This technology will be built into the temp stadia that are to be just given away.

I did a google image search for T-38DD.

My productivity for the rest of the day is now gone.

I saw that this type of technology would be available in 2015. Back to the Future Part II taught me this. No further news on the cure for Parkinson's yet. Yeah, I went there.

Japan is clearly preparing this technology as a method to attack most glorious DPRK and attempt to bring down our fearsome government. They are afraid to fight us with real soldiers so they will use this trickery.
