  • Okay, in all seriousness, this Phog.net malware

    Who has had problems?
    What was your solution?
Is there some special program you've run that has cleaned off the super aids?
Is there any lingering problems after the fix?

For me, I had Antivir. It locked down my computer pretty good. I booted in safe mode ran MalwareBytes off a jump drive, and then cleaned it off.

My antivirus expired before it was attached and I hadn't renewed yet. I put AVG on it after. Haven't noticed any problems, but don't know if I still have any trojans or worms or malware on there that have been undetected.

As far as I know, that should do it.

        Geezer,

I used your advice from the TOS and it worked. Thank you for that.

Apparently Hawkism and some others have bricked their machines I just don't know if it was something else or not.

I was also infected with Antivir. I restarted my computer and managed to access the system restore option in the control panel before the program was able to load and lock me out again. I restored my computer to a system checkpoint, ran Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, CCleaner, and ComboFix. I haven't had any issues since.

anyone see Pete's thread calling out Tom for not addressing or apologizing to his customers who have had to nuke their computers to fix the problem? I found it pretty entertaining.

The only way you can get any of them to respond is scream obscenities at them.
They sure haven't been at all proactive with their users about warning them.

They were proactive enough to lock it, and if my memory serves me correctly, to delete it from the main thread--though perhaps I just missed it when I glanced over there a few minutes ago.

I am really surprised they haven't made a sticky thread warning people/apologizing. That's like a restaurant knowingly serving spoiled meat, and trying to cover it up when people accuse them.

I was talking about the malware not pete's post.
It's in the main thread or was anyway.

As I've mentioned before, I wasn't able remove that crap or do a system restore to a point before my laptop contracted phog aids. It completely completely incapacitated my work computer -- they had to give me a new one. It really pissed me off.
