The original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Loved the book, loved the movie.

Ditto. My brother and I watched Top Gun a ton, too.

                          Re: Favorite Childhood Movie

It strikes me as funny that my favorite movie was one I had to go the theater to see. Old Phoggy moment: home video wasn't around. I suppose I could stretch my brain and try to remember what movies Channel 41 (KBMA and KSHB) played in heavy rotation, giving me an annual-ish dose of cinema on teevee. Stuff like "Ghost and Mr. Chicken," "Bringing Up Baby," and the Saturday afternoon Creature Features with Crematia Mortem.

If I'd had a home video device, I'm sure I would've watched Star Wars one thousand times. Hell, I saw it seven times at the Varsity Theater downtown in 1977. Since I bought the DVD, the only Lucasfilm I own, I've watched the thing at least 20 times. And I'm as old as fuck.
