I started listening to Dan Savage over the past 6 months or so, and it has altered the way I look at sex, and the sex I am having has gotten better. Thanks, Dan. Part of this is being much more sex-positive in public, especially in talking about kinks. I'm all in favor of demystifying and confronting the often backward way in which we (don't) talk about sex in this country.

Strangely enough, if it's a normal relationship, I don't really want to hear about it/tell about it. But if it's something freaky/gross and especially if it's with somebody a person is no longer with, I'm all for it.

I think it's obviously a gender thing. I talk about sex quite often with my girlfriends (all married). We don't really go into a lot of details, but frequency/quality/etc., gets brought up a lot.

In addition, I talk about sex a lot with my guy friends.....especially the single ones that are having it a lot.

However, I am quite certain that my husband his buddies rarely, if ever, talk about sex. He finds it odd that I can be so open about it with my friends.

Wait, wait, wait....who said we were "bragging"???

This brings up another point....I think females are more likely to talk about sex in negative terms to their friends yet keep the good stuff to themselves. When I think back to the most memorable sex I had over the past year, I didn't run off and tell my friends about it.

In contrast, I regularly complained to the whole chat room that I wasn't getting any during the last weeks of pregnancy.

I agree with vorsk, who displays an enlightened attitude about sex. As a culture we really need to grow up sexually. Discussing sex like adults is the best starting point.

The Victorian prudeness is still out there but it's mostly among the old and religious.
