  • need a new Dishwasher

I think mine is broken and I don't care to fix it becuase I'd rather have a new one that is all stainless steel on the front - one of those that hides the controls.

Is there major difference in the dishwashers in terms of how clean they get the dishes? What are you paying for when you go up in prices, other than cosmetic things like I described above (SS)?

I would recommend stop being a bitch and get a hot woman to clean your dishes by hand....just kidding.

I got a kenmore from sears, stainless, hidden controls, good quality, good price. I believe I paid around $800, which was cheaper than the high-ends. Also, it dries great. My bro has a bosch, and washes good, but does not dry great. Cannot remember why but bosch seem to have drying issues.

I have a Bosch and would agree with this. I think the more expensive/efficient sometimes means less effective. I will say that mine is super quiet. You don't even know it's running which is the main reason we got it.

Mine died last night - It's one of the new ones with a stainless steel front that hides the controls.

3 months out of warranty, so it's going to cost me $99.00 for the service call plus parts and labor - what a ripoff.

It's a GE; I don't know how good they are - It was thrown in by our builder as part of an incentive package. It did clean the dishes better than any other unit I've had.

If you're in KC, 3 places to check to save hundred$!

              1) Nebraska Furn Mart's Scratch&Dent/return cove.

              2) Sear's Outlet on Front Street (Take a right at the Isle of Capri off of I29/35)

              3) Appliance store in old OP around 79th & Metcalf kittycorner from the Other Place.

Yes, I think so. You would have to pick the thing up though, I'm definitely not going to the ghetto to drop it off.

Switching to stainless will mean a stainless steel interior as well. This is one area you'll notice some change. It will not start until the water's been heated to operating temperature and the stainless interior takes longer to heat up so relax a bit after pushing start cause its coming. Top controls are difficult to install if either tile and underlayment or 3/4" hardwoods were added to the floor after the origional counters were set. Simply measure from the floor to the BOTTOM of your counter. Your gonna need 34", 34 1/2" is better. Once you've chosen the stainless/top controls combo your going to get a good dishwasher whatever you choose. Look for adjustable top racks. Kitchenaid's will run $900.00, Bosch $1200.00. If you need a referal to Factory Direct I'd be happy to give you one.

Did you pay for it with a credit card? My dishwasher was out of the original manufacturer warranty but AMEX added a year to it. Turned out it was about a $90 fix with some glass jammed in the bottom. AMEX reimbursed me the whole amount of the washer to buy me out of their warranty so I came out way ahead.

goto Lowes and pick the cheapest stainless steel dishwasher you see

seriously, going expensive on dishwashers is a tragic waste

Ummm, yeah. I can't speak for all stay-at-home-moms but I have definitely felt sexually-deprived since we moved from our house with a double oven to just the single plus convection.
