well if you started a cell phone company in the past, you wouldn't have gone down the time invention path, and thus you never would have gone into the past to start your cell phone company, and you life would still be the same as it is today. It's a cruel bitch.

Assuming you can go back: Bring back the polio, influenza, anthrax and small pox vaccines to 1880 or so. Sell my elixirs to a few companies and put the money in the bank for myself in the future.

Assuming you can go forward: Go to the future and 'discover' the cure for cancer, AIDS, etc. Seems altruistic enough and it would make me stinking rich regardless.
