    Re: No Pay No Spray

So some guy who doesn't pay into a service expects to get it?

The sense of entitlement of some people... sheesh.

Right, should have paid...but put the fire out and then bill the mofo for services rendered

Problem with that....he didn't pay the fee before, why would he pay the bill?

Well, I'd imagine that anyone would feel indebted to them...especially if they saved the house and pets

but you make a fair point

I wonder if they would have acted differently if there had been people inside

Kids don't have a choice when parents don't pay. Now the kids are homeless.

Neighbors house loses value. A neighborhood is a system and now all suffer.

I mentioned this on TOS, but the fact that the fee is optional is a problem. The city that he does live in needs to "tax" (for lack of a better word) the people for this service (maybe add it on to homeowner's insurance) so that everyone is covered.

He lived outside of the normal fire protection district. They're lucky the fire department even offers that service.

My uncle is a firefighter up in Minnesota, and the department has a list of houses they won't respond to because the owner doesn't follow the guidelines about property management. If they don't cut trees back and clear out the brush on their lot and driveway, the department sends them a letter that basically says "fix this, because if your house catches on fire we won't come put it out."

This guy reminds me of the people who don't get homeowners insurance and then bitch when someone breaks into their house and steals everything.

                  What's the old adage?

"A failure to plan on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part."

he at least had homeowners insurance

putting the fire out would have been a slap in the face of anyone who did pay the damn fee for 20 years (or at all)

I'll bet the insurance company fights paying, considering the fire was started deliberately next to the house. Looks like paying the bills isn't the only thing this guy is negligent about (I know is grandson started the fire, but he had to know it was happening and where it was happening).

He's also going to have to fight his neighbor's law suit for the same reason.

THEY WASN'T ON THEIR LIST :dirtybird

They should just modify the policy, pay up front $75 annually or we bill $75 per hour plus materials.

Then you put a lein on his house. It isn't hard. This is a city we are talking about, they can make people pay easier than a normal creditor.
