Which Star Trek are we talking?

Trek in general. One set of nerds versus the other set of nerds. I don't want to get into old versus new verus DS9 versus STV or whatever else. Simple Trek v. Wars.
I dunno. I regard the original Star Wars as one of the greatest movies -- easily -- of my lifetime. The other five are so offensive that I often conflict with those who think highly of them. The worst offender, of course, is Empire Strikes Back, a movie so highly offensive those who like it should be chemically castrated. Return of the Jedi set the standard for the utter ineptness displayed in the ill-thought prequel trilogy. Greatness in the first movie and five relentlessly annoying subsequent chapters. Not even The Godfather III could provide the level of epic meltdown as Lucas exhibited.
Trek is what it always tried to be and when it tried to be more, it was laughably, not embarassingly, bad. Meeting GOD in Star Trek 5? Funny stuff. Captain Kirk being killed? We waited for that and it was funny. Kirk and Spock on a bus in L.A. in the 80s? "Double dumbass on you!" Tough to beat that.
Game Roddenberry. Fuck George Lucas. Two great movies (American Graffiti and Star Wars) and a legacy of pompous overindulgence that would make the Tudor dynasty blush.

Speaking for those that should be chemically castrated, what do you have against Empire? I can understand Jedi to a point along with the prequels (which I still like to a point, but have faded over the years), but what's wrong with Empire?

I forgot the whole Fanboys movie is on Youtube. Goodbye afternoon.

It really shouldn't be a movie I would watch, but the Star Wars geek in me loves it.
Yeah there are some pretty stupid parts in it, but some of it is really funny. I did get kind of emotional too at the end the first time I saw it. :dirtybird

It's a fall from grace, like Godfather III's embarassing entirety insults the largely superb first two installments. Empire has a silly beginning, a boring middle, and an inconclusive ending -- for which audiences had to wait THREE MOTHERFUCKING YEARS to get the final chapter, which proceeded to rehash the first movie and generally suck massive teddy bear wang. So, to recap, ESB was a stupid middle chapter that only led to monumental frustration. It is a redefinition of the word disappointment. "Luke, I'm your goddamned dad?" Yeah, well that makes a sizable portion of Star Wars a complete ICK, where Luke was swooning over Leia. It's like some horrible D&D game. Empire Strikes Back will always be the worst movie ever made, and I will fight.
