On the bright side, I don't have to communicate with anyone.

Gmail? Mail (on a mac)? Thunderbird?

I always found Outlook incredibly clunky.

Outlook does suck but if you're on a PC you really have no choice for work email. Thunderbird is dog shit and Mail is only for Macs.

Nothing like Outlook being down to

The big issue is when companies use Exchange Servers. Adds some really nice functionality but you're locked into Outlook and when it goes down, everyone goes down.

I like Outlook. It's not a bad product and honestly, it's about the only option in a Windows network environment.

I am so glad I don't work in an office that makes me use Outlook.

Re: Nothing like Outlook being down to

we run the new Small Business Server w/Exchange. It actually works really well. I'm not at all familiar with other network wide mail programs but I'd be hard pressed to believe there is a better product. And yes, I use gmail as well for personal e-mail.

Re: Nothing like Outlook being down to

Outlook's may have shortcomings, but it's a standardized product and that is to be expected. Coordinating calendar events and syncing stuff to the Windows platform is really just too convenient for big operations to ignore.

I have gmail for my personal account, but Outlook works just fine for work.

I'm not even sure what else there is? Eudora Mail? Add to the fact that almost all windows programs sync with it, it's a no brainer.
