  • Root Canal: Yes or No?

I have a huge cavity in my molar, the dentist gave me an option to either get a root canal and get the tooth refilled, or get the damn thing pulled.

Can I get some opinions out there from anyboby?

Should I waste my time spending tons more money on a RC, when I can spend less money and just get rid of the tooth all together?

Losing a tooth is a pretty big deal. RC FTW! :mexican

Otherwise you will look like this:

Losing a tooth will make you look like you are from Missouri.

Root Canal if you can afford it.

I was kinda in the same situation just recently.

They had to drill into the tooth and clear away the cavity in order to see if the nerve was visible. They said there was still a little left covering the nerve but they suggested I get the root canal anyways because it would just get worse.

They filled my cavity, gave me some recommended places for a root canal, and sent me on my way. It's been about 6 months and I still haven't done the canal, and it feels much better than before.

But it sounds like your nerve might be exposed....if you can afford it, get the canal. I heard pulling the tooth can just complicate things too much.

I go back next week too see if the tooth can be saved without having to get a RC. I;m keeping my fingers crossed hoping there's no nerve damage up in the gum, that way I can get the tooth crowned without having to worry about losing the tooth or getting a RC.

I really want to aviod the RC if I can. I heard they can be very painful.

Re: Root Canal: Yes or No?

If the tooth is long since decayed, the root canal may not hurt at all.

Root canal and the strongest drugs they can give you. Pay extra if you need.
