  • The Social Network (the movie)

Maybe it's the total lack of anything regarding a decent movie out there now but I'm so ready for this movie to come out.

    Fincher directing

    Sorkin writing

    Trent Reznor scoring it

        Do not want. At. All.

I'll watch Devil before I see a movie about Facebook.

What's with all the hate on this movie? It isn't some half assed ABC Family movie here, some of the best filmmaking talent of this generation is working on it. (Spare me the, "Fincher hasn't done anything since FIGHT CLUB ROFLZ")

No, it just seems like a terrible story for a movie. Manufactured drama. Oh wait, that IS Facebook.

Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz called the film a "dramatization of history ... it is interesting to see my past rewritten in a way that emphasizes things that didn't matter," he said. According to Moskovitz, "A lot of exciting things happened in 2004, but mostly we just worked a lot and stressed out about things; the version in the trailer seems a lot more exciting, so I'm just going to choose to remember that we drank ourselves silly and had a lot of sex with coeds.... The plot of the book/script unabashedly attack [Zuckerberg], but I actually felt like a lot of his positive qualities come out truthfully in the trailer (soundtrack aside). At the end of the day, they cannot help but portray him as the driven, forward-thinking genius that he is."

Has anyone seen the other movie about social networking, 'Catfish'? http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/catfish/

Surely this is the first movie in history about a factual event that over dramatized it.

BTW, only 9 reviews in so far but at 100% on Rottentomatoes. 4 Stars from Rolling Stone.

Not the point. Its a subject that is so dull they have to just blatently make shit up to make it "sexy" and fun. Enjoy giving your 10 bucks to them. There is just no appeal for me despite what RT and the RS have to say.

Silly, I don't pay for movies.

Plus, who cares if they embellish stuff? If it makes an entertaining movie I'm all for it. If I want to know the exact history of Facebook I would read a book.

I guess I am just not sold on the "entertaining" part.

I'm going to go see it. Maybe the critics are exaggerating but some are comparing it to movies like Citizen Kane and the Godfather as a transcending film about our time. Who knows how good it will be and I am still a little skeptical until I see it but most are giving it good reviews.

Agreed HiD, seeing it compared to Godfather, etc. just makes me kind of roll my eyes.

There are just too many extremely talented people involved for this to be a total turd.
