For instance, everyone knows that the internet is the best source for porn but when I was a kid we had one computer in the middle of the living room with AOL dialup so internet porn wasn't an option when I needed to beat the one-eyed man in my pants.

My opinion is that the '70's were better. Some reasons:
1. The late '60's, early '70's were real close as you would expect and Playboy was evolving and some might say 'devolving' to this day concerning the 'look' of the women in the playmate pictorials.
2. The photography was getting better, so the subjects look much better.
3. The early '60's still had the 'coy' posing due to the standards allowed then, which by the way, were becoming more and more relaxed as time passed.
4. Playboy had become more 'acceptable' and thus the model 'pool' was increasing. This increase in competition would also effect the pictorials.
Well there you have my so-called 'expert' opinion. Do your own research and report your opinion.
