  • Almost 3-Year Old On Saturday Mornings

They slept until the last minute during the week and cause you to scramble around to get them out the door. On Saturday mornings, they are up before 6:30 am wanting to watch cartoons. They are sneaky little bastards.

Plus side, it a great morning to sit on the porch, drink some coffee, and read WTW.

Re: Almost 3-Year Old On Saturday Mornings

About 6 months ago, our kids (7 and 4) have figured out that they can wake up, get their own damn cereal, and turn on their own cartoons. It has changed our weekend routine in the most awesome way.

Now we just have to teach them how to take care of a newborn during that time so we can continue sleeping in. ugh.

Got a 2-year old who likes to wake up at 6 am on a regular basis. 7 am is sleeping in for us. It's too bad cartoons suck nowadays.

Our 12-year-old is starting to sleep in a little on weekends, which is nice. But "sleeping in" for him is getting up at 8:30. He does everything but get his own clothes, though, so it's pretty easy.

Yes, they are programed to fight you during the week, and wake your ass up on the weekends. The Dark Side is strong with them.

Seems like if you kept them awake until Midnight on Friday night....they'd sleep in...

              does that work?

Ummm, no. Spoken like somebody who has never had kids. :) The reality is that the reverse often happens....keeping them up later only results in them waking up earlier....and then major melt-downs later that day due to sleep deprivation.

You can never get a toddler to sleep, and you can never wake up a teenager.

We turned our 3 year-old's life upside down a month and a half ago when we moved across the state. New daycare and new home (lots of work clearning, unpacking, etc) have been part of a combination that has led to an inconsistent bed-time. Grandparents visiting this weekend set him over the edge because of an extremely late bedtime for him. We've had threee major meltowns over the last two days. Doesn't matter when he goes to bed, he's still up by about 6am.

Our 4-year-old is the WORST to drag out of bed. I can't even imagine what he will be like as a teenager. The older one gets up at the crack of ass EVERY SINGLE DAY. But his brother is the opposite....It can be 9 or 10am sometimes and when I go to wake him, he starts yelling, "JUST ONE MORE MINUTE!! JUST ONE MORE MINUTE!!". We made life exponentially easier by moving him from morning preschool last year to afternoon preschool this year. Kindergarten is going to be a bitch.

Am I reading this right? Your 12 year old can't dress himself?

I'm guessing he dresses himself, but doesn't pick out his own clothes. Not a bad idea when you consider what a 12 year old boy's fashion sense might consist of.
