  • The state of education in America...

WTH IS GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY?!? I don't care what you all have to say about No Child Left Behind, Class size, BLAH BLAH BLAH! The real injustice is schools planning activities on KU SPORTS DAYS! Family Movie Night??? Tonight??? Are you kidding me???

My daughter will be crushed, but this will be a teaching moment. KU Sports trumps all other events. No, I don't care that you're getting married.... I don't care that you're having a baby, my first grandchild that you're naming after me.... I DON'T CARE! It's GAME DAY Fools!!

Being a parent is all about making tough choices for the betterment of your children. You have done your offspring a great service by choosing wisely. They'll love you for it in a few years.

Kind of unrelated...the GF is an OkieSU grad...she couldn't understand why I passed on suite tix for the OSU game so I could go sit on the bleachers and likely see KU get stomped

I told her, you will learn this, KU trumps almost all...it would have to be a HUGE game for me to even consider passing on even KU NDSU

I lucked out and our school movie night is NEXT Friday. That was a close one!

We had our first KU vs. youth sports conflict last winter when Sam had a basketball game that started at the same time as a KU basketball game. Up to that point, I had been able to strategically place him in leagues that didn't conflict with any gamedays. When that particular Saturday afternoon rolled around, I very lovingly told Sam that KU tipped at the same time and that I wished him luck in his game. Despite the fact that I had never missed any of his games before, he didn't even blink and just said, "Ok, mommy." (in the end, I ended up going to this game, watching the gamecast on my phone, and rushing home in time for the start of the second half).

Unfortunately, we have a few conflicts this fall with soccer games and KU football. Suck.

I don't view them as conflicts.... they are opportunities for my kids to learn school pride (even though I didn't attend KU).

what the hell is this shit around schools involving the parents in shit? The only thing my school did was skate nights where all the parents dropped their kids off for 2 hours at a skating rink. I'd much rather do whatever I did when I was a little hellion than be forced to watch a movie the school district chose me... unless it was willy wonka and the chocolate factory. That movie still kicks ass.

Tonight is Tale of Despereaux.... or KU Football.

                Silly little school!

Well, without the win last Saturday, it could be Tale of Despereaux or Tale of Desperation.
